GuitarJamz Solo review – GuitarJamz review

This post is a series of GuitarJamz reviews

GuitarJamz Solo DVD containing 4 DVDs

This DVD helps teach you the foundations of how to play an amazing guitar solo. Using the foundational techniques such as minor pentatonic the DVD teaches you how to use this scale to create licks as used by famous bands such as former Guns & Roses guitar player Slash.

The course then moves into modes helping you to develop your solo guitar technique further. By taking the time to learn the modes you’ll be unlocking the key to playing guitar like your heros everything from classic rock to more heavy bands.

Taking the time to learn the pentatonic scales and the modes is critical if you truly want to improve and master your skills at guitar solo playing. Guitar Jamz does a great job of breaking it all down for you in a fun and playful way.

Take a look at the DVD and the  typical Marty style teaching.

Jazz and blues solos:

Guitar Jamz also devotes one DVD to learning the foundation to play the mixolydian scale which is important in jazz and blues styles of play.

Bonus material:

  • Full Month Membership to the website – access to over 400 guitar lessons (video)
You also get a full 30 day access to the members section of Guitar Jamz’s website, with over 400 videos to learn from and much more.

  • 15 Awesome New Jam Tracks DVD – learn to play your favourite artists most popular songs
From Zeppelin to Pearl Jam to the blues, play along with your newly developed solo skills or simply use the jam tracks to help improve them. The jam tracks CD is certainly my favourite feature of the course as it feels like you really are starting to master the guitar by playing along with the legends of guitar playing.

  • Another DVD loaded with 12 more Guitar Solo Techniques
Not had enough yet? Yet another DVD taking you further down the rabbit hole of guitar solos. Not to be missed.

Thoughts:

Personally I love GuitarJamz’s method of teaching and at $65 with all the bonus material the DVD set is a steal. But more importantly I find that inclusion of such techniques like the mixolydian scale very cool. Not only do people miss out and only teach the more common pentatonic scales but by learning the widest range of scales, modes and techniques you’ll be on your way to creating your own unique sound. If you just want to play some popular songs then that’s cool, GuitarJamz can teach you that but if you want to go further and absorb the information on these DVDs use it and apply it, then you have at your hands the ability to let your creative juices flow and come up some something truly unique.
